Is your check engine light on?

It may sound like a silly question, but is your check engine light on?  Has it been on a while?   Have you just been ignoring it, hoping it will go off on its own?

First off, if it is a flashing “check engine light,” something is wrong. And, if you continue to drive at normal or high speeds, you could cause severe damage to many components and even your catalytic converter. And, even if the light just recently came and simply has a steady glow over a day or two, you still need to schedule an appointment with us and have one of our mechanics use the proper diagnostic tools to check the vehicle over.

It best, for the long-term care of your vehicle, to not ignore the warning lights on your dashboard. The sooner an issue can be discovered and resolved the sooner a potentially serious problem can be avoided.

Our repair and service shop is located at 815 D Spring Street, Friday Harbor, WA. Our staff at Finish Line Auto Repair looks forward to scheduling an appointment, just call (360) 378-5685.

Is Your Pet Traveling Safe?

The Trixie Dog Harness comes in a variety of sizes and is just one of the many such products on the market.

The Trixie Dog Harness comes in a variety of sizes and is just one of the many such products on the market.

So many of us travel with a family pet, but are you aware of what you should be doing to protect you and your pets while driving?

One of the first suggestion we have is to keep your pet restrained. You wouldn’t drive without a seatbelt, or allow your children to travel without a seat belt, and neither should your pet. Allowing your pet or pets to roam freely in your vehicle can present several dangers to drivers and other passengers. Feeding, petting, barking at the dog in the next car over, all can distract a driver from the road ahead and cause and accident. Also, if the pet isn’t restrained, it runs the risk of being injured in an accident.

There are a variety of pet restraints on the market that are relatively inexpensive and easy to use in your automobile. An animal carrier is also a good option for keeping your beloved pet in place and safe.

Having an unrestrained animal in your car may also violate some state laws.

During the summer months, be sure to pack an extra water bottle for your pet, and never leave an animal in a hot car, you’d be amazed at hot fast temps can climb in a closed car.

We hope you have safe travels with your pet, and if you ever feel your car isn’t safe, stop by Finish Line or call  360-378-5685 for an appointment and let our mechanics do a complete diagnostic.
